1. Do not use Name@Keywords

Many people think that using keywords in Name field can boost their SEO rankings since they are providing link on the keyword. First of all, most of the bloggers keep the external urls and especially the comments urls as nofollow. Thus, that linkback is not going to give you any direct SEO benefit.

But you use keywords so that more and more users see that keyword and land on your site.
Let us say that you have health niche site then you use something as Name@HealthTips. But do you think that the blog-owner will approve such comments?

For example: Atul@HealthTips

There might be few webmasters that would not have problems in considering the above name and they might approve your opinion on their websites. But others will not only spam your name but also your emailid. If they place your email in their spamming box then welcome, you are banned from that site forever.

So as part of your blog commenting strategy, do not use Name@keywords and instead, use your real name.

2. Do not use @Keywords

Many people become smarter and they do not even care to use their name in the first part. They simply go and use just @Keywords. Further, they span by giving various variations in keywords on different articles.

If your comment gets approved then you might end up in snatching little traffic from those keywords and that’s the reason you do commenting. Correct?

But are you sure that someone is going to approve your keyword targeted comment?

If you have added only keywords in the ‘Name’ field then at the first stance, you have given the impression that you are commenting just to gain a linkback and your wordings will not have any real benefit to the blogger. So why he will care to approve your gossip?

So as one of the best blog commenting tips, prefer not to use keyword in the ‘Name’ text-field.

3. Do not use @BlogName

Some commentators use the name of their blog in the ‘Name’ field. As the reasons stated in above 2 points, do not do this. Remember the site-owner likes your real name and not any keywords or any junk name or the name of your blog. So stick to this theory.

4. Do not use just First Name

Many readers just use their first name while commenting. Like my full name is Atul Bansal but while commenting, if I use my initial name Atul and do not add my surname Bansal.

I know many people use only initials but believe me; using full name looks more genuine and trustworthy. And the chances of your comments getting approved become more when you use your full name including surname as compared to when you are entering just initials.

5. Use Quality Comment

Do not spam anybody’s site with fake and without any usage wordings. Read the whole article first; grasp what the author wants to say and then post based on the article content. Just posting anything will not help you in gaining an approval for your comment from the author.

And if in case the webmaster approves your junk comment, then also that’s not going to give you much benefits. Believe me, you will fail in getting the loyal traffic. Readers of that article will land on your site only if they see some quality in the wordings that you have written on that article.

If you will just talk out of your mind then nobody will be interested in reading your opinion and they will not like to follow you. Also, the readers might take you as a spammer. If you have your gravatar enabled then they will remember you and you end up losing your prestige in blogosphere.

So make a point that whenever you write; write well, whether you are writing on your own blog or on any other website.

Remember that whatever blog commenting strategy you follow, always write quality comments.

6. Do not use link within the content of comment

If you think that giving the link of your any article while commenting can bring you lots of traffic then forget that. Yes it is true that the link can drive people to your blog but the sad thing is that the webmaster will not approve that link. Infact, your whole comment would be discarded.

The truth is that either the webmaster will edit your opinion and will remove the junk url or will just park your full comment in his spam folder.

If the website is a big one then chances are that your complete comment will go in his spam folder and you will be left with only option to bid farewell to that site. And this continuous practice is not good for your reputation.

7. Do not use your blogname within content of comment

Some people deliberately add their blogname within the comment, so as to mark a greater exposure for their domain. Do not do this. Remember one rule that when you are on someone’s site then you are working for the benefit of his site and not yours.

I know that your intentions are just to promote your domain and not his. But atleast that site-owner should feel comfortable with your wordings. So do not add your domain name anywhere, neither in name field and nor within content.

8. No Self-Promotion

You are in somebody else’s fence and that is not a place for yourself to promote your own site. Forget about all promotion and just write something that is related to the published article.

Forget all your intentions of promotion. Remember that you are not allowed to promote either yourself or your brand. You are not on a place where you can do branding for yourself.

Yes, the right strategies followed will automatically help you in branding and promotion but remember again, you are walking on someone’s terrace. So, you have to follow a strategy and your blog commenting tips should have no place for self-promotion.

9. No signatures

I have seen that many people try to embed their signatures while commenting. Remember that you are not in any forum where you can gain backlinks by embedding your signatures. And nor you are replying to an email where it is must to include signatures.

Do not try to add your signatures in anyway; whether you are just putting your name or any url or any common stanza.

10. Do not paste same content everywhere

Many people leave good comment on any article. They might get few replies on it. Even if they do not get any reply, but the content that they have added seems worth and they end-up in gaining few clicks to their own url as well. This is the happiest part. But after that, they commit a mistake.

They copy the same content and paste it on various other blogs thinking that the same comment might bring them good traffic from those sites as well.

Remember that if you are doing this then you are putting duplicate content on other blogs. And do you think that any webmaster will love to have the duplicate-content on his site?

So whenever you leave a comment anywhere, always use fresh new wordings and do not copy-paste the same text everytime. You should definitely implement this blog commenting tip in your commenting-style.

11. Read article before commenting

Many people just go to any site and start writing in the reply-box without even bothering to read the whole article. They think that the site owner is stupid and he will fail to recognize whether you have read the article or not. Remember that your reply is an indication that whether you have gone through the author’s article or not.

If you will read the post then only you can reply within the context and based on the content that the author has written. And just reading the heading will not provide you enough information for blog commenting.

Also, the webmaster can see the time duration in his Google analytics account and can spam your reply thinking that you are on his blog just to promote yours. So, make sure that as part of your blog commenting tips, you read the article thoroughly.

12. Do not comment in a hurry

As I have cleared in above point that the webmaster can analyze the time spent by you on his pages; so spend some quality time on his website and his post. Do not comment in a hurry and soon after landing on his article. First read it, let some minutes pass and then post anything.

Spending some minutes on any of the page and then leaving your opinion on it will give an impact on the webmaster that you have read the whole story properly and thus, you must have commented based on the gist that you have grasped.

13. Use proper English with NO Grammar mistakes

Do you leave spelling-mistakes while writing your own posts on your own blog?

I know no one does that deliberately and if by chance, they are left then it is different thing. Let me rephrase the question. Do you love grammar-mistakes on your blogs? I know you will say – “Obviously No”.

So, the same holds for other bloggers as well. They do not want any grammatical mistakes on any of their articles, either within the content or within the comment section. So make sure that whenever you leave a comment on other’s articles then you proofread them before hitting Submit button.

I recommend that you must try Grammarly and you will yourself see the improvements in your English language.

14. Write Lengthy Comments

Google loves the content and therefore, the webmaster also loves it. Same holds true for any website, whether it is owned by you or by someone else. So make sure that whenever you reply, you write really long opinions and do not just leave few words.

Also, make sure that you avoid using the common sentences such as mentioned below. Your blog commenting tips should avoid using below sentences.

• Wow, that’s great.
• Thanks for sharing.
• Loved your article.
• Loved your blog.
• Your blog is impressive.
• Your writing skills are excellent.

When I said that you should not use just above sentences, it means that you are free to use them but make sure that you write something unique after them. Some commentators just write the above 3-4 words and then click Submit button, which is a wrong practice.

You are free to use above words. Infact, those words constitute nice praiseworthy sentences but just using them does not give any value to the original article and as such, no webmaster likes it.

So whenever you leave a comment, make sure that you write in a structured way and as long as you can.

15. Reply to commentators

Another good practice that you must incorporate in your commenting style is replying to comments. On a well-written article and on an established website, you will find good number of replies.

Instead of starting a new thread, you can also reply to some of the questions asked by commentators. This practice not only establishes you as an authority but it also builds your trust with the author of the article.

When you follow the strategy of replying to the questions then the chances of your comments being approved increases multiple folds.

16. Ask questions taking author’s name

Always feel free to ask questions. No one is complete and no one is perfect. When you read any post then few queries might arise in your mind. Openly ask the questions to the author. Don’t be afraid of asking and don’t ever think that this could degrade your authority on the subject and what other commentators will think about you.

Ask the queries and make sure that when you ask, you refer the author by taking his name. This further builds a bond between you and the author. You can refer the author by using @ or saying ‘Hi’ or ‘Hello’.

Below are some blog commenting examples:
• Hi David
—your text goes here

Further, you can use below styles too:
@Lisa
Hello Atul

Taking the author’s name this way will compel him to reply on your comment and the chances of your comment being approved also rises as your text looks genuine to the author. So incorporate questions in your blog commenting tips.

17. Select to “Email me when someone replies”

You might have noticed that some webmasters place a checkbox near the bottom of comment-box asking something like “Email me when someone replies”.

If you check it then it’s a big plus for your reply to be approved. Because in this way, you are subscribing to the future replies on that article. And any webmaster would not let any subscriber go away. But remember if that article gets multiple replies then your emailbox will get flooded with emails from that site.

18. Commenting on 2 articles at same time

Many people post quick comments on multiple posts of same blog. Some do this genuinely after reading the post but some people just write anything. These people have only intention of gaining backlink and thus, they write whatever can be written in quick time.

Blog commenting is a good thing but you must incur some strategies in your writing style. Some people open various articles of same website in different tabs of their browser; then they read all the articles at one go and leave their opinions on all of them at same time.

This is not a wise blog commenting strategy and the webmaster of that website might think that you are just spamming his site. So make sure that whenever you are doing blog commenting then you leave few minutes before posting the second reply.

19. Use Gravatar

If you use a nice gravatar during commenting on blogs then it will add more professionalism to your overall authority. Plus, the audience will be more interested in visiting your link. Also, there would be more chances of your opinion getting being approved.

Some webmasters do not approve your text at all, if you do not have a nice gravatar for yourself. It would be much more professional and will add more value to your profile if your gravatar keeps your real photo.

Some webmasters even add this to their blog commenting policy. See an example image below by InspireToThrive Commenting Rules.

20. Read Blog Comment Policy

Some webmasters list their Blog comment policy clearly on one of their pages. So it is our duty to abide by all those rules and policies. Some webmasters need that you should write more than 5-7 sentences and your gravatar must have your real picture rather than any other cartoon image. Different sites keep their blog commenting policies different as per their needs.

Whatever rules they pose, I am sure those will not be so tough to follow. In order to check if there is any blog comment policy listed on that website, check the header and footer. Most probably, the page would have been listed in either header or footer.

21. Leave aside your emotions

I know everybody is in love with his website and wants quick success for it. But remember that every business needs time to flourish, whether the business is online or offline. Keep in mind that when you are going as a commentator on someone else’s website then you cannot observe his any article or complete website just a promotional platform for yourself.

Also, the website on which you are sharing your opinion is an online business of someone. So keep aside your all emotions and write good text on anyone’s online venture.

22. Proofread after Blog Commenting

After writing the text, do not forget to proofread it. Consider the text as your own article and follow all the post-writing steps that you perform while and after writing the post. If not all, atleast try to follow some of the post writing steps during blog commenting.

23. Think you are commenting on your blog

Whatever you are writing on anyone else’s website, think that would you like to have the same wordings on your site?

If you will think and try to find the answer of above question then you would be in a much better position to share your opinion.

Also think that if someone leaves a comment on your site, how you want that to be?

The answers to above questions will be the best blog commenting examples for you.

The above are the complete blog commenting tips and strategies that you should follow in order to have your opinions approved on other websites.
